CDEs
Career Development events, CDEs, are held in the spring semester. CDE competitions that focus on the real-world applications of the material learned in agricultural science classrooms. These contests are designed to be team events that prepare students for a career in agriculture. Focus is placed upon reasoning and technical skills, interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as overall knowledge of particular subject matter. All CDE contests will have various elimination levels. The first level of competition for the Anahuac FFA Chapter are the invitational CDE contests held throughout the state on college campuses and in conjunction with the major livestock shows; these contests will put students in a competitive situation against some of the top teams in the state. The competition that will count for Ricebelt District honors and area standings will be the Area IX competition. The top 2 teams in each contest at the area level will advance to the state contest. Winners of the state CDE contests will have the opportunity to compete at the National FFA contest the following year.
